Cheer Girl

Hello all!  It’s your Upward Cheer Coordinator here, drowning swimming in a sea of manuals, diagrams, lists, books, tasks, and a teensy tiny bit of overwhelmed-ness!  Not a word?  Oh well, I trust that you know what I mean. Winking smile

It’s the feeling of confidence and excitement wrapped up with the burning desire to perform well that has my mind a little full right now.

I have told you before how I am organizing the cheerleading for our church’s new Upward Sports program that we are beginning in January.  I am SO EXCITED and SO PUMPED to tell little girls about Jesus and cheerleading!!  But since Upward is a new program for us, there is so much that needs to be learned about the WAY to go about things.  Then there is the monumental task of putting it into practice for the first time!  Whew!

But I am convinced that this is going to change our mission field, our community, and allow Christ to shine through these children that participate!  And THAT, my friends, is the sole purpose for this endeavor.

The Mission Statement for Upward Sports is:

To introduce children to Jesus Christ by creating opportunities to serve through sports.

And the VALUES are:

  • The Expectation of God Moments – We believe that God is at work all around us.
  • The Life of Integrity – We believe that how we live is more important than what we say.
  • The Discipline of Excellence – We believe in serving that exceeds expectations.
  • The Priority of Children – We believe that Every Child Is A Winner.

BIG, BOLD STATEMENTS & GOALS FROM A BIG, BOLD PROGRAM, WHOSE MEMBERS SERVE A BIG, BOLD, GOD.

I am so excited to see the direction this program takes in our community, and the people’s lives who are touched.  I AM, admittedly, a little overwhelmed, and want so desperately to do a good job.  Thankfully I know that my prayers go all the way to the top and I pray that God will bless this ministry and all those who participate.  I trust that He holds this ministry in His Hands and that He will bless it beyond what we could even imagine.  I certainly won’t put limits on God…with Him the possibilities are endless!

So here we go!  It’s onward and UPWARD!!!

On a complete other note, yesterday was a beautiful day here!  I started the day off with a fabulous half-marathon.  I hadn’t intended on running so far, but it just felt so great that I just kept going!  I LOVE runs like that!  And interestingly, I realized as soon as I set out that I had forgotten my earphones so I ran sans music.  Yep, complete silence for 13.1 miles…all 1:57:08 of it.  I don’t think I’ve ever done that before!

Have a great day today, guys.  I’m going to immerse myself in some more cheerleading.

Heehee, how cool is that?!
