Tumbling, Baseball, Basketball, & Running–Oh My!

Well hey there!  I disappeared over the weekend so I’ll catch you up real quick!

On Friday/Saturday we squeezed 3 different sports into 24 hours: tumbling, baseball, and basketball.  We had Katie’s tumbling class on Friday night, Zachary’s baseball game on Saturday morning, and all the boys had 6 basketball games total for Friday and Saturday.  Whew!  It was exhausting and kept us burning up the roads for sure! 2012-06-11 0012

So on Sunday……WE SLEPT.  Ahhhhhhh…….

I got up around 730am, and after being up and enjoying my #SheReadsTruth Bible study and the quiet house, I promptly went back to sleep and slept until 12:30pm on the couch.

2012-06-11 001

We seriously had nothing left.  Not to mention that we’ve all been battling this allergy/sinus/sore throat junk for several days and felt pretty rotten at times physically.  I felt so much better when I woke up the second time so then I started doing laundry and making beds and such.

After much delay I decided to get my run in for the Summer Run Streak.  I was planning on running around 6 miles or so (about an hour-ish), but about 4.95 miles I had a sharp pain on the outside of my right ankle!  Whaaaa?!  I put most of my weight on the treadmill bars while I tried to “run it out” or just see if it was a fluke/momentary thing.  It wasn’t.  I stopped at 5 miles, bummed and confused.  Where the heck did THAT completely new pain come from??  Arggghhh….

2012-06-11 0013

I am so beyond aggravated.  I am so tired of running and being injured.  It seems like as soon as I get one thing fixed and better, something else crops up.  Ugh.  And THIS one even hurts to WALK.  Not good.

I went to see my BFF/FNP/fixer of all boo-boos today and I know that’s not broken, but that I’m likely dealing with a tendon issue.  So back to ice and ibuprofen and waiting it out.  PS~I am NOT a good waiter.  And PPS~No more run streak for me. Sad smile

IMG_2893

Obviously it was a no-go this morning.  Of course you know I had to try, but no.  No run, no walk.  So I just did some squats and pushups and pretty much just bummed around my workout room while I watched last night’s episode of Drop Dead Diva.  I love this show, but it wasn’t doing much to pump me up today.

BUT it could always be worse.

We start back on the sports scene tomorrow after two days off.  A full day of basketball games followed by a baseball game as soon as we get home.

Here we go again!

Finally Friday

Is anyone else soooooo thankful that it’s Friday?!

I know I am, but our weekends aren’t really any less busy than our weekdays, but it just feels better when it’s the weekend!

We are heading to tumbling for Katie today while the boys are playing summer league basketball all day today and tomorrow.  I am itching to watch both my boys play together on the same team, so I’m looking forward to watching me some basketball tonight and tomorrow!

Up until now I haven’t had much of a chance to sit down.  Wake up was followed by getting all the boys a good breakfast of Belgian waffles and bacon before sending them off to catch the bus for basketball.  Right after that I got in my workout, a 6 mile run on the treadmill…

IMG_2817

I brought back an old favorite while running…the new season of Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime started this past Sunday and I had it DVR-ed for just such a running date. Smile  I love that show.  The 6 miles just flew by!

Today’s Soul Detox Bible study was all about fear.  And how we don’t have to fear anything if Jesus is the Lord of our life.  2 Timothy 1:7 says just that:

Still Streaking

I’m feeling rather uninspired to write today’s post…hence the late afternoon writing.  Well, that, and the fact that I decided to catch a couple hours of sun out by the pool while reading my new copy of Runner’s World.  It was for my health benefit…Vitamin D. Smile

I WILL share with you my current streaks going on at the moment,

The Runner’s World Summer Run Streak 2012 is going strong:

As well as #SheReadsTruth Bible Study:

And my favorite verse from today,

Sweet, simple, I love it.

I’m off to see if I can get any more inspired for dinner.

Later, friends!

National Running Day

Hello beautiful day!

IMG_2800

First off, I want to wish you a Happy Running Day!

IMG_2809

When I logged into to Facebook this morning, there was a link on Competitor to log your miles for National Running Day.  After I logged my 5 miles at 9:43 this morning, over 4,000 miles had already been logged!  Wow!!  And with many, many more sure to be counted before the day is over!

At runningday.org you can create your own running badge!  Pretty cool right?!  (Edited to add: it seems like their page has crashed, but you can still look around on their Facebook page…)

2012-06-06_1012nationalrunningday

I made mine that says, I RUN… because my life depends on it.

Because it does.  You may have seen the many studies that show the link between breast cancer survivors and exercise…but they ALL state that exercise can increase your likelihood of staying in remission by, like, 30%!  That’s huge.

2012-06-06 001

So yes, I did 5 miles (Run-Streakers unite!) while I watched last night’s episode of Giuliana & Bill on the Style Network.  Oh my word.  I have been getting into this show over the past several months, probably since G’s breast cancer diagnosis brought them to the forefront, but their story just touches me.  How they have struggled with infertility to her breast cancer diagnosis…and well, the pop culture aspect of it of course. Winking smile  But while I was watching this morning as she spoke to other breast cancer survivors and began to share her story, she broke down and I found myself with big ol’ tears too (all while running mind you!), because I remember my first time speaking to a group about my diagnosis and how it hits your heart so hard when you begin to speak the words.  Been there, and my heart went out to her.  It was like suddenly, a woman who I’ve just seen occasionally on TV, is now my survivor sister.  It’s a connection I can’t explain…and I treasure.

Of course, my #SheReadsTruth devotion this morning was on what…??

IMG_2799

How beautiful, and perfectly timed.  Of course.

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. Mark 11:22

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”  Mark 11:24

Like I said yesterday, I stand in complete awe.

Post workout, I was stretching I happened to glance out the window and see this little guy getting a drink from the pool, IMG_2806

Heehee, cute huh?

Have an amazing Wednesday, friends.

More baseball tonight.  Should be a beautiful evening for it!

Remember to do your self-breast exams, ladies.  No one know your breasts like you do, so check ‘em!

How Does Your Mouth Represent YOUR Heart?

This was our scenery as we drove home last night.

IMG_2789

I mean, seriously, isn’t God the most AMAZING artist??  I have to just sit and stare in awe of the beauty He creates.  Love it.

IMG_2788

We had another lovely evening of baseball last night.  We traveled a little over an hour for the game, but sadly did not come home with a win. Sad smile

Today’s #SheReadsTruth Bible study was Day 13 for me…

IMG_2790

Today’s reading was from Matthew chapter 12, and I particularly liked verse 34:

“…For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

How does your mouth represent YOUR heart?  I know I am convicted by reading this.  I know at times I’m not very proud of what comes out of my mouth and certainly don’t want that to be a reflection of my heart.

And from the devotion,

Anytime I think something positive about someone else, TELL THEM!

My legs were feeling particularly good today so I ran 8 miles on the treadmill this morning and then did the Tank Top Arms routine I found on Pinterest somewhere.  The Summer Run Streak lives on Winking smile

IMG_2791

With no ball games or pressing things on the schedule today, I MAY actually get caught up on my bookwork and even possibly find my desk somewhere underneath all the stuff that has been piled on it.  I’m dreading it already.  Maybe I’ll do it tomorrow.

I’m such a procrastinator…

Maybe that’s how it got so messy to begin with?? Confused smile

OH- and check out this sweet graphic I found…my hubs will LOVE it Winking smile

Love you guys.

All Streaks Intact

What’s going on in your world today?

Since a rude sinus virus decided to invade my body the past few days, I spent yesterday completely lethargic on my couch.  Well, almost completely.  I woke up and thought I was feeling better because my throat wasn’t on fire so I hit the treadmill for a long-ish run first thing.  I finished 8 good miles before my femur started to ache (BOOOOO!!!!!) so I stopped and came in to wake up the princess so we could get ready for church. 2012-06-04_1033twitter

After getting all dressed and ready, I sat down at the table for a few minutes and visited with my dad and realized that I felt completely awful.  My head felt like it was going to explode and my eyes just wanted to close.  So Katie and I stayed home and went back to sleep, in our church clothes.  Yeah.

The rest of the day was spent flipping channels on TV and playing games on my phone.  How productive am I?  …sigh…

Today I really AM feeling much better…so far so good!  I hit the treadmill for a 2 mile warm up run before doing my cardio kickboxing DVD.  After that I walked three more miles while watching the 19th hour of the Today Show. 2012-06-04 001

SO, the Summer Run Streak is still going strong here.  Are you participating?  How are YOU doing??

The #SheReadsTruth Bible study and community is also going strong!  I look forward to getting in the Word every day, and seeing what God wants to reveal to me and apply it to my life.  I also like looking through Instagram and Twitter and seeing what part of the study that other people are on and the notes they are taking.
 2012-06-04 0011

I’ve got to get cleaned up and get going this morning.  I’ve got a million things to do.  First of the month bills, bookwork, grocery shopping, and Katie is wanting me to buy her some paint…oh, and we have a baseball game tonight.

Later, guys!

Phoning It In

Literally phoning in today's post. I am on the couch due to sinus/sore throat junk. Boo. I took some decongestant medicine this morning and it has helped but makes me feel a little weird. Like wired but also sleep on the couch weird. Hmm.

Anyway, before my couch time I got in 5 miles for the Summer Run Streak. I ran 3.25 mi. and walked 1.75. I kept the incline at 2% for the running portion and went back and forth between 5-9% for the walking. I broadened my horizons by watching E! News during my 'mill time;)

Before I got my sweat on, I did Day 10 of #SheReadsTruth. Today's focus was on Proverbs 4.

And what stood out to me most today:

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23

I'm off to watch my Cardinals and relax some more. I hope you are enjoying your Saturday.

Love and blessings.

Raining & Running

Guess what?!  It’s raining!!

2012-05-31_1039weather

Hallelujah!  We desperately are needing rain around here, so the rumbles of thunder and the rain that has fallen yesterday and today are soooo nice.  Everything is so dry around here, it’s crazy.  At the boys’ baseball games the field is just a dustbowl, everyone’s grass is getting crunchy, and the river is at levels usually seen in August.  So thank you, Lord for the rain!

It looks like it’s going to be a fairly quiet day around here.  It’s my dad-in-law’s birthday so we will be heading out to their house to celebrate at some point today, and visit with friends there who are in for a visit.

Wednesday Numbers

Ok, so I’m getting a little confused on my days here…

This is Day 3 of the Runner’s World Summer Run Streak,

IMG_2754

2012-05-30_1137DAY3

I ran a mile before starting my Extreme Burn DVD, then during the cardio bursts on the DVD I hopped back on the treadmill and ran some more.  Again I kept it at a 2% incline throughout.  It was about an hour and half total and was a total body workout plus cardio.  Boom. Smile

And it was DAY 7 of the #shereadstruth Bible Study: Recently Updated

Today’s devotion was focused on setting our minds on Jesus and not on earthly things.  This whole devotion series is called Soul Detox and so today it was talking about how earthly things and thoughts can easily lead to toxic thoughts.  We need to fix our minds on Jesus and what HE wants for us and how HE desires our thoughts to be.  There are so many things that can easily wedge in between us and God, separating us and leading us away from Him.  I took notes on how we can focus our thoughts, like spending more time in His Word, in prayer, confessing when we have those toxic thoughts, and forgiving others when we may be holding grudges.  I focused on the areas of my life that I need to change and am praying that this study will help me to do just that.

Have a great day, guys!  My girl and I will see you guys later. Red heartPrincess

Survivor Spotlight Saturday

Hello!! Is it absolutely beautiful where you are this morning?!  Holy cow, if not you should high-tail it to southeast Missouri, ‘cause it...
